Some dogs get all the luck. Imagine, being born and taken into a home where you were given all the luxuries of life and had to do nothing but look cute and perk up your ears from time to time. This is the job of some very lucky pooches that ended up as celebrity pets.

Not only do these pups get coddled and carried around everywhere, either under an arm, or in a designer doggie bag, when they get home, they get to rest in the lap of luxury, in upscale dog beds.

No, all dog beds are not the same. Do you think Paris Hilton let’s little Tinkerbell crash on any old mat on the floor? What about Britney, Do you think her baby, London, gets a blanket in the corner? Think again. Celebrity dogs get posh pads to call their own.

As the trend in celebrities wanting small, carry-along dogs kicked up, so did many more companies who started creating upscale dog beds and other pricey accessories for the dogs of the rich and famous.

They started simple enough, with a fancy material large pillow, overstuffed to be more comfortable for the pampered pooch. Then monograms and custom embroidery were added, as well as other personal touches to let the world know this bed belonged to one rich pup.

Next the big pillow wasn’t enough. Celebrity dogs needed furniture just as good as their owners had. Along came the trend of miniature furniture, for pets. There are chaise lounges, overstuffed sofas, beds (from plain to four-poster and wrought iron framed) that were downgraded from people size and created in dog size.

Then came a move towards some more fun styles of celebrity dog beds, from beds that look like fancy sports cars, to those that look like a dog just came out of a box of chocolates.

But for some celebrities, these pre-manufactured upscale dog beds weren’t enough for their precious puppies. They needed something more. Luckily the custom upscale dog bed market was around to meet their need. Designers have been creating specialized beds for many of these dogs. When it comes to the bed itself, only the finest of materials will do including velvet and silk. Many of the beds are trimmed and wrapped in feather boas and mink. Still others have to show off just what kind of a jewel the pup sleeping in it is, with gemstone encrusted accents.

When it comes to the cost of these custom upscale dog beds, the sky is the limit. It all depends on how much someone is willing to put out to make sure their dog has a bed in a style that suits them.

One of the most expensive upscale dog beds recently brought in over $2,300 at a garage sale (one can only imagine what the retail price would have been). The bed had been given to the family dog of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. The bed came from Sir Elton John. Sharon offered the bed up for sale at a garage sale that was raising money for a cancer charity.
